EVENING SESSION SPEAKERS
Matthew & Melissa Stock, Cambodian Missionaries
ONLY JESUS is the theme of our evening sessions. Matthew and Melissa bring a lot to the table and will be sharing from their incredible life experiences what it practically looks like to make Jesus your all and only.
We get it, life gets busy, and there are a million things demanding your attention and devotion, but the only thing that matters is Jesus.
Matthew and Melissa are both Northwest natives and have an involved history here at the week of convention. For more information on who they are and their current work in Cambodia, click here.

Workshops
The 173rd Northwest Christian Convention | June 24 - 29, 2025
Every year we are honored to host a wide variety of speakers, workshop leaders, musicians, and other leaders of faith from around the Northwest, and the world. Here are a few you can plan to see at the 173rd Week of Convention:
10:15 AM Wednesday-Saturday in the Tabernacle: Intentionally Ministering to Overlooked People Groups
Welcoming Strangers Among Us I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Matthew 25:35 God’s heart for the foreigner and stranger among us can be seen throughout scripture. We will overview scripture, looking at God’s heart for the foreigner, the immigrant, the refugee among us and what God asks of us as His people. Using an interactive simulation activity, we hope you will get a glimpse of the uncertainty and loss of forced displacement as well as hear stories of hope. Through our time together we want you to walk away with practical ways to pray for and get involved in the lives of our new neighbors.
Grief and Trauma Ministry “Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn," but it's hard to comfort the hurting. This talk will explore ways to effectively minister amidst the emotional pain of grief and trauma. It will explore common experiences, ideas from research, and how to wisely use Scripture to help a person find and follow Jesus in the darkest valley.”
Mental Health & The Church Anxiety, depression, bipolar, posttraumatic disorder, and a range of other emotional and mental health issues are impacting today’s world in significant ways. The church has an important role to play in facing this challenge. This workshop will outline today’s mental health challenges and the role that the church may play in meeting them. The workshop will highlight appropriate models for pastoral care and supportive ministries as well as the important boundaries and limits that churches must set when doing this kind of ministry.
11:15 AM WORKSHOP (main room Tabernacle)
Church Stories: A Conversation on Our Heritage Past, Present, and Future
Join us for a dynamic series exploring what it means to be Christian Churches of the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement—past, present, and future. WHAT IS THE NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN CONVENTION?
The Northwest Christian Convention is an annual gathering of Christians that has been happening in Oregon for 170 years. Over that time the gathering has gone by many different names--The Missionary Society of Oregon, The Annual State Cooperation, and The Oregon Christian Convention. Throughout that time, however, the mission of the gathering has always been the same:
to promote unity among Christians in the Northwest,
the encourage and equip churches in the Northwest, and
