Senior Minister/Lead Pastor

Location: Singing Hills Christian Church, Hillsboro, Oregon

Full Time

The senior minister reports to the Elders. The Senior Minister will work with the team of Elders to provide vision and mission for the Church. The Sr Minister shall be responsible for the management of the Ministerial Staff and any administrative personnel and build a sense of teamwork as they seek God’s direction for the church.

Administration

• Manage the Ministerial Staff and any Administrative personnel.

• Oversee the administration and management of all areas of the congregation's ministry in consultation with Elders, ministry leaders, and staff.

• Support and assist the staff/ministry leaders who have primary responsibility in the ministries of education, youth, children, and outreach.

• Support, supervise, manage, and evaluate (in conjunction with the Elders) the staff of the congregation. Participate in the screening and hiring of non-ordained staff and calling of ordained staff.

• Build a sense of teamwork among church staff and hold regular staff meetings to coordinate the church ministries and facilitate communication.

• Work with the responsible Ministry Leaders to see that the church's facilities are functional and in good repair.

Worship

• Regularly preach and teach the Word of God.

• Help plan for the overall worship service experience in conjunction with the worship minister.

• Officiate at special services such as weddings, funerals, nursing home services, etc.

• Provide education and support for the global mission outreach.

Pastoral Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care, along with the Elders, through visitation, counseling, and prayer.

• Make appropriate referrals when necessary and quickly respond to crisis situations that arise in the congregation.

• Assist staff and ministry leaders in teaching children, youth, and adults in the Christian education program of the congregation.

• Mentor staff, teachers, and ministry leaders as required.

Outreach

• Equip the membership for personal evangelism and outreach.

• Perform visitor follow-up.

• Perform outreach in the community.

In all of the above, a growing personal relationship with Jesus which displays the “fruit of the spirit” described in Galatians 5:22-23.

Working Conditions

The position of Senior Pastor requires great flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends. The pastor should be in the office for sufficient time to be accessible to members of the congregation and to communicate regularly with members of the church staff.
